At the invitation of the Friends of the University of Luxembourg Professor Stéphane Bordas was the keynote speaker for the evening of Thursday 18 April at the Chamber of Commerce. His lecture was titled:
New Frontiers for Engineering and Medical Simulations
He discussed the challenges associated with assisting medical interventions with computational modelling and has focused on the particular point of patient specificity and highlight similarities and differences with standard engineering models. He gave examples ranging from the use of wind energy harvesting to surgical simulation in breast cancer. In any case, it was a varied and wide-ranging conference but certainly also a very exciting and extremely interesting one. That is why professor Bordas is undoubtedly one of the most interdisciplinary researchers at the University of Luxembourg.
The entire evening programme was structured as follows:
- Welcome speech by Prof. Dr. Rolf Tarrach
- General Assembly | les Amis de l’Université du Luxembourg
- Lecture by Prof. Dr. Stephane Bordas
- Closing remarks and cocktail offered by the Chamber of Commerce
